SVT Leaders, a special unit of K-Pop boy group, Seventeen, releases a new music video on ‘Cheers’
SVT LEADERS is a subunit of the South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN. The unit is made up of the leaders of all three seventeenth-century units. S.Coups is the leader of the Hip-Hop Team and the boy group’s leader, Hoshi is the leader of the Performance Team, and Woozi is the leader of the Vocal Team.
This is the first time these three have come together since ‘Change up in 2017. “Cheers” is the 4th track in their upcoming repackaged album, Sector 17. The song is co-composed by Woozi and Vernon, and co-written by Woozi, S.Coups, Hoshi, and Vernon.
“Cheers” is a hip-hop song in the Asian trap style. It highlights how far they have come since their humble beginnings, as well as the hurdles they overcame along the way. It summarises their journey since their debut.
When sung by the leaders of SEVENTEEN, the lyrics take on a deeper meaning. Their achievement required them to swallow all of the hardships and trials that came their way. This celebration is not a signal for the finale, but rather the beginning of a quest to be No. 1 that will be heard throughout the world.
The song also implies that SVT leaders are informing those who look down on them that they are now celebrating their accomplishments and that they will continue to achieve more success in the future.
At 2:13 of the song, there is a music store with several records albums and musical instruments, as well as “break the records” written in three primary colours, which means, seventeen’s discography, built with three basic elements (vocal, rap, and performance), is meant to “break the records.”
S.Coup’s rap segment (1:20, “started from two pyeong”) One pyeong is a measurement unit for the area and floor space. One pyeong = 3.306 square metres. Hence, he refers to Seventeen’s melon rehearsal room during pre-debut, which was 6-7 sqm in size.
The entire ‘Sector 17’ album will be released on July 18th, 2022. ‘Circle’, ‘_World’, ‘Fallin Flower Korean ver.’, ‘Darl+ing’, ‘Hot’, ‘Don Quixote’, ‘March’, ‘Domino’, and ‘Shadow’ are the other nine tracks included in the album.
