One of the longest military encounters, the armed forces are undertaking each and every effort to finish off terrorists who are hiding in the harsh terrain of Gadool Hill.

As the encounter enters day 7, the Anantnag operation has been one of the longest and the one of a kind.
It has witnessed the use of advanced technology for surveillance and delivery of firearms.
The operation also claimed the lives of three security officers whose lives were taken by the terrorists on Wednesday in this area.
The commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of J&K police Humayun Bhatt were the ones who lost their lives during the operation.
According to the Hindu citing the officials, the security forces have zeroed on suspected spots which include a hideout in cave form located in the Gadool hill Kokernag area in Anantnag district.
This cave-like hideout was finished within 4 days with the help of rocket fire and mortars.
Officials further said that this operation was deliberately kept slow in nature as they wanted to avoid impromptu explosive devices that are used by the militants both during the present and past.
According to police, 2-3 terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba which included a local were found in the area. The Army has also given the confirmation of two other soldiers who were injured during the operation.
Charred body found?
However, on Monday, there was no fresh firing, and no casualties were reported.
Except a charred body was found.
According to a News18 report, the army on the basis of DNA Samples, has discovered the charred body and according to the army, the body might be of a personnel, by the identification of Pradeep.
Thus taking the casualties to 4.
L-e-t commander Uzair Khan Killed

On the 7th day of the encounter, L-e-t commander Uzair Khan was recently killed.

His death was confirmed by the ADG of Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
The terrorist belonged to the Nagam Kokernag of Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
According to media reports, he has been missing since the 26th of July 2022.
The intelligence agencies are of the opinion that he was accompanied by terrorists of foreign background.
According to the ADG of Kashmir, he said “
The weapons were discovered. Another dead body was discovered. Search operations are still on. More blind cells will be searched. We have requested the people not to visit the place till we clear it. Another body might be found. We believe there are 2-3 bodies in total. The second body was also seen… we’ll find the spots and finish it. Three officers and one soldier have been martyred.
Day 7 of the Anantnag encounter
The army has ramped up its efforts and has reportedly recovered the body of a soldier on Monday.
The search operation is still going on, to catch 2-3 terrorists who are there in the area.
Challenge to the armed forces

The armed forces are making the use of weaponized drones and helicopters for the scanning of dense forest areas which have the presence of cave-like hideouts. Where the terrorists are believed to be hiding.
As a part of the precautionary measure, a security barrier was introduced to the neighboring area of posh Kreeri on Sunday.
