‘Kanpur ka mujrim kaun’ reads Zee news, ‘Babaji ka bulldozer’ was the headline by times now and the customary tense arguments anti-religion between Muslims and Hindus (Aaj Tak) was continuously going on.
A Times Now reporter expressed concern over Abu Azmi of the Samajwadi Party’s “shocking” remark about the shivling.
The anchor counselled him, “You should apologise,” which seemed a little rich coming from the network where Sharma made her foolish remarks against the Prophet.
In Udaipur, the debate over Nupur Sharma’s remarks—which has been raging around the nation for the past several days—took a bloody turn. Two young people cruelly killed a young man by slicing his neck with a sharp object in this Maldas Street Bhoot Mahal neighborhood.
A warning was issued for the entire state of Rajasthan after the gruesome murder of Kanhaiyalal (45) in broad daylight resulting in the enforcement of Section 144 for one month. In the state, administrative and police leave have been cancelled.
All districts have had no internet access for the past 24 hours. A SIT has been formed to look into the event. It is directed by ATS IG Praful Kumar.
The accused, Mohammad and Riyaz, have been taken into custody by the police. According to the police, Kanhaiyalal backed Nupur Sharma, a former BJP politician, on social media.
The authorities are seeking Nupur Sharma after he is accused of disrespecting the Prophet Muhammad.
For his social media post, Kanhaiyalal was previously arrested, after he received threats for a number of days. Hawa Singh Ghumaria, a senior state police officer, informed the reporters that none would be spared.
He also urged the media to hold off on airing the video. He stated: “It is quite repulsive to watch. My recommendation is to not watch it.”
According to the police, Kanhaiyalal received threats from a specific group because he backed Nupur Sharma’s remarks on social media. The policeman remarked, “On June 10, a grievance was filed against him. He was detained and brought before the judge.
He reported getting threats to the police on June 15. All the parties and community leaders were taken to the police station by the police. I called and the reconciliation was completed.
The community leaders who assisted in the reconciliation are also the subject of an investigation by the police. “
In response to the horrible incident, the Rajasthan government has ordered that all internet connections in the state be turned off for 24 hours. Additionally, the state has also implemented Section 144 for a month.
On June 17, Riyaz, one of the defendants in the case, recorded a new video and announced that it would be released “on the day he would have executed those who had disrespected Prophet Mohammad.” He requests that others take similar steps in the state in the video seen by The Wire.
Akhtari also threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi by making a video in which he said he had cut off the man’s head.
The attackers also made an indirect reference to Nupur Sharma, a BJP leader who was expelled from the organization for making a statement about the Prophet Mohammad.
Condemning the violence
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, called the entire scenario disgraceful. He claimed that a climate of hostility was developing.
Gehlot remarked, “Police will investigate the situation thoroughly and take harsh punishment against the incident’s culprits. I urge everyone to keep the peace.”
Gulabchand Kataria, the state’s leader of the opposition and a member of the BJP, claimed to have discussed this with the chief minister.
In order to lower the tension, Kataria claimed, “I spoke to the Chief Minister and the SP and urged swift arrest.”
Leaders from all throughout the nation denounced the tragedy and urged strong punishment. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, described it as horrific.
“Such cowardly behavior has no place in a culture that values civility. We vehemently reject it. Offenders should face harsh penalties, “he added.
Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, also expressed sorrow over the occurrence and said, “The horrible murder in Udaipur has caused me great pain.
Vandalism committed in the name of a religion is not acceptable. Anyone who uses such cruelty to spread terror should be put on trial right away.Together, we must all combat hatred. I make a plea for everyone to uphold harmony and fraternity.”
Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of AIMIM and a prominent Muslim figure, denounced the occurrence and asserted that there could be no justification for it.
“It is clear where our party stands on such brutality.
Nobody has the right to impose their own laws. “We demand that the state authorities implement the harshest penalties imaginable,” he added.
“While Rajasthan is governed by the Congress, it is on course to turn into a Talibani state. The jihadis’ daring has grown due to Congress’s accommodation of Muslims to the point that they are openly killing Hindus and posing a threat to the prime minister”,Rajya Vardhan Rathore, a BJP leader and MP, stated, later deleted the tweet.
The National Probe Agency has been instructed by the Union home ministry to take charge of the investigation into the savage murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal by two Muslim men in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
On May 18, Lal posted on social media in support of Nupur Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“The involvement of any organization and overseas links would be thoroughly probed,” Amit Shah’s office tweeted on June 29.
One religion’s communalism nourishes another religion’s communalism. In these cases, the state has to treat the people who killed Kanhaiya-Afrajul, Nupur, and Zubair the same way!
This is the zenith of religious fury and fanaticism. No matter what sect, or group they are a part of, those who commit acts of violence can not be the guardians of their culture.
The most imaginative being in the universe is God. Violence is only committed by those who cannot reason.
Any religion or culture’s nasty side is only seen via violence. Because of this foolishness, violence, the communal forces will have more opportunities to prosper.
No problem can be solved via violence. Under no circumstances violence in the name of dharm or religion can be justified.
One of the accused, Mohammad Riyas Ansari, was in contact with Pakistan-based terror groups. Gulam Gaus had visited Karachi in 2014.
Before killing Kanhaiya Lal, they had watched many ISIS videos and made multiple calls to Pakistan, said sources in the police and the Special Investigation Team formed by the Ashok Gehlot government.
The role of media
In the nationwide demonstrations that followed nupur sharma remarks, there were fatalities, arrests, and building demolitions.
The media made little effort to remind their audiences of the initial provocations made by Sharma and her allies, like Naveen Jindal, and mostly portrayed them as a law-and-order issue.
They also gave Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath the opportunity to paint the protesters as “criminals” and “terrorists,” which only served to embolden him to exact his repulsive brand of swift retaliation through the use of bulldozers and police brutality.
Only a small number of media outlets attempted to draw attention to how obviously illegal these actions were as well as how gravely they violated human rights.
In the meantime, Pragya Thakur, other prominent Hindutva figures, viral Twitter hashtags, and WhatsApp forwards are all helping to gradually elevate Nupur Sharma to the status of a minor Hindutva star.
The studio news chat show and the studio news show model cannot be understood without some understanding of why news television is so important to the media industry, even though it only accounts for a modest share of total television viewing and total revenue.
This is what worries us here because it is the original setting for the crisis that is roiling the nation.
In a statement, the Editors Guild of India sharply criticised news outlets for “deliberately creating situations that target vulnerable communities” through the use of hate speech.
The statement was signed by the president, Seema Mustafa, general secretary Sanjay Kapoor, and treasurer Anant Nath.
It reads, “The Editors Guild of India is disturbed by the irresponsible conduct of some national news channels for deliberately creating circumstances that target vulnerable communities by spewing hatred toward them and their beliefs.”
The statement was made in reference to a Times Now Navika kumar in which BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma, who is currently suspended, made remarks against Prophet Mohammed without mentioning any specific individuals.
The statement detailed the reactions following the broadcast of this debate.

As Sahir writes, “Nafrat Jo Sikhaye, Woh Dharm Tera Nahin Hai/Insaan Ko Jo Raunde wo kadam tera nahin hai” is a message to those self-described nationalists who are utilising anti-religion sentiment to marginalise a certain segment of the population.
He further writes, “Quran na ho jis mein vo mandir nahin tera/giita na ho jis mein vo haram tera nahin hai”.
