Beast is the title of a Tamil film starring superstar Vijay that was released in theatres on April 13th, but it fell short of the high expectations placed on it by the audience. Scripted and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who is best known for his previous films “Kolamavu Kokila” and “Doctor”, this new film is set in Chennai. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, which includes Vijay and Pooja Hegde as the leads, as well as Selvaraghavan and Yogi Babu, among other actors. As indicated by the trailer, the film is categorized as an action-thriller, with a dash of comedic interludes thrown in to keep things interesting. Terrorists take over a shopping mall in Chennai and threaten the government with the release of a dangerous criminal if the government does not comply with their demands. The action takes place in the state of Tamil Nadu. Veeraraghavan (Vijay) and his girlfriend Preethi (Pooja Hegde) are mistakenly captured and held as hostages. We now look to our fearless male leader to complete the liberation of everyone and bring the battle to a close. Because the lives of everyone involved are on the line, it is up to Veeraraghavan to save them all while also emerging from the situation unscathed in order to ensure a successful conclusion.
Fans and critics alike, however, have expressed strong reservations about the film, which is unfortunate. The most frequently mentioned comment was that it was “an unusual and dynamic film that is very different from Vijay’s usual style.” The film received a mixed response. It was also frequently compared to Vijay’s previous film, Master, which had also been a critical success at the time of its release. The story begins with a series of actions, ending with Vijay’s journey to the Indian border. The beginning was a promising note, with a series of events that left the audience scratching their heads as to why he was there in the first place. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for the majority of the film’s runtime.
Several elements that contributed to the film’s success were unnecessary, such as the entire romance sequence with Pooja Hegde, which could have been cut and would not have made much of a difference. In order to get a better view of the action scenes and numerous slow-mow sequences, the audience was encouraged to lean forward in their seats. The absence of a strong, concrete villain character, as well as the absence of a final battle between what would have been an epic showdown in the film, were, however, the most disappointing aspects of the film. Both Vijay and Sivakarthikeyan’s characters in the movie “Doctor” have personality traits that are similar to one another. There are several similarities between Veeraraghavan and Nelson’s previous film, Doctor, Varun. These include the hero’s expressionless and strong personality traits, as well as the same situation of the hero working with normal oddball citizens, in this case, the customers of the mall, to bring down terrorists who are not dangerous and do not have a distinct personality in the first place.
However, even the comedy, which is supposed to lighten the mood and keep the audience entertained, was a little disappointing, as the skit scenes, which featured Yogi Babu, were not particularly amusing or entertaining. There was only a small amount of entertainment provided by VTV Ganesh for laughs. However, the music composed by Anirudh Ravichandran was on top of his game. Arabic Kuthu and Jolly O Gymkhana were major hit songs.
The writing for the second half of the film fell short of the high expectations set by the audience in the first half of the film. Unfortunately, even Vijay’s spectacular action scenes and acting couldn’t save the film from the negative reviews it received as a result of the film’s mainstream storyline and reliance on Vijay to carry the entire film. However, despite the fact that the hero is stronger, leaner, and meaner than he has ever been, the movie was anything but that.
The Beast is currently playing on the big screen in theatres all across the country.
