On Friday, the ACB (Anti Corruption Bureau) of the Delhi Government arrested the AAP MLA from Okhla on the charges of alleged irregular funds in the Delhi Waqf Board, of which he is the chairman.
Khan was called to the ACB office on Friday to answer questions concerning this case. The ACB then released a statement based on the investigation and inquiry conducted, where they stated that they raided four locations allegedly linked to Khan.
The statement said that around 24 lakhs in cash, two illegal and unlicensed weapons, cartridges, and ammunition were recovered. They also said that at one of the raid locations, the ACB team was attacked by relatives and people in connection with Amanatullah Khan.
The ACB then registered two more FIRs, one regarding the recovery of illegal weapons, and the second for the alleged attack on the officers.
The allegations against Khan are as follows:
- Illegal appointments, violation of rules, and misappropriation of funds of the Waqf Board.
- The complaint was lodged by Hafiz Irshad Qureshi, who alleged that 33 people were hired by the board on a contractual basis without following the rules and regulations.
- It is also alleged that some of the appointees to the board were relatives of Khan or were from his constituency of Okhla.
- Renting out the properties of the Waqf Board arbitrarily and reaping the benefits for the same.
- Vehicles for the board have been bought without following set rules.
The former ACB chief had also requested the Lieutenant Governor Secretariat to remove Khan from all of his posts on the board as he was obstructing the course of a free and fair investigation.
The investigation has to take its further course and the practices allegedly conducted during Khan’s tenure should never have been the case.
