During a recent town hall in Ahmedabad, the Delhi CM invited a civic employee to dine with him.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener, Aravind Kejriwal, extended an invitation to a civic employee named Harsh Solanki and his family to dine with him in his residence in New Delhi.
With polls nearing, Aam Aadmi Party leader Aravind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann interacted with sanitary workers, most of whom are from the Dalit community in Ahmedabad.
At that time, Harsh Solanki, a civic employee, said he saw Mr. Kejriwal visiting an auto driver’s home to have a meal at the latter’s invitation. He later requested Mr. Kejriwal to visit his house and have a meal with them.
Mr. Kejriwal said during elections it is common for politicians to visit Dalit people’s houses to dine with them, but politicians never invite Dalits to their houses for dinner.
Mr. Kejriwal extended an invitation to Harsh Solanki and his family to come to his residence in Delhi to dine with him and said he would send air tickets for your entire family.
Harsh Solanki said he was delighted to see Mr. Kejriwal standing up for the Dalit community since no one had done so since Independence.
During Solanki’s visit, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the Punjab government would arrange for their stay at Punjab Bhavan in Delhi.
