On Tuesday, the United States Government declared to close the airspace for Russian Aircraft. Earlier, Canada and the European Union have shut down their airspace to Russian flights due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In his first state of the Union Address, American president Joe Biden said that The US would ban Russian planes from its airspace, joining the list including Canada and the EU.
He added that America would not spare Putin for what he has done. He warned that Putin would pay a heavy price for his decision to invade a southeastern neighbour.
“He has no idea what’s coming,” said Biden in the House of Representatives. “Let each of us, if you are able to stand, stand and send an unmistakable signal to Ukraine and to the World”, the US president added.
Reaction from American Aviation Giants
Amidst the reports of the Biden government banning Russian aircraft from using American airspace, Boeing, an American aviation giant, has also pulled out from Russia.
Boeing has announced that it will not provide its services to Russian airlines and their operations in Moscow following the invasion of sovereign Ukraine.
Speaking on the same, a Boeing spokesperson said, “We have suspended major operations in Moscow and temporarily closed our office in kviy.” Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine.
“We are also suspending parts, maintenance and technical support services for Russian airlines. As the conflict continues, our teams are focused on ensuring the safety of our teammates in the region,” said the aviation giant’s spokesperson.
Joining other major US aviation carriers who have suspended their flights in Russia, United Airlines have also announced the suspension of its services in the invading country.
Although the White House denied commenting about its talks with aviation giants. But in recent days, it has held extensive discussions with United States Airlines.
During the initial days of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, United Airlines flew over the Russian airspace to operate flights to India from the US and vice versa. American Airlines, United Parcel Airlines and Delta airlines have confirmed that they have cancelled all their flights over Russian airspace.
According to western news agency Reuters, FedEx, an American carrier company, didn’t respond to the mail asking for suspension of its flights over Moscow.
United Airlines is evaluating alternative routes to India that do not use Russian airspace, so it has cancelled its flights to India on Tuesday and Wednesday.
