Following the announcement by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to boycott the upcoming inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament on May 28, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also decided to abstain from attending the event. Additionally, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) have jointly declared their intention to boycott the ceremony. The Congress party is expected to follow suit and join the unified boycott.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh expressed his disapproval on Twitter, announcing that the party would refrain from attending the inauguration program as a protest against PM Modi’s exclusion of the president from the invitation list.
TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien has announced a boycott of the upcoming inauguration of the new Parliament. Derek O’Brien launched a scathing critique against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of adopting a self-centered approach. O’Brien alleged that the prime minister’s sole focus during the Parliament’s inauguration revolves around “I, me, myself.”
D Raja, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), stated that his party leaders would be absent from the ceremony.
As of the present moment, there has been no official statement released by Congress, nor have any of its leaders made announcements regarding the grand old party’s participation in the ceremony. However, reliable sources within the party suggest that Congress is inclined to abstain from attending the inauguration program.
The esteemed political party is expected to issue a statement regarding the matter on Wednesday.
The event faced strong objections from the CPM (Communist Party of India) as well.
Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), expressed his disapproval of Prime Minister Modi’s actions regarding the new Parliament building. Yechury stated that Modi disregarded the President’s involvement both during the laying of the foundation stone and now at the inauguration. This behavior is deemed unacceptable by Yechury.
