Tony Khan, the owner and president of AEW, spoke on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio for his “Tony Time” feature ahead of the May 6th episode of Rampage on the channel.
In this episode of The Tony Khan Show, Tony Khan talks about Wardlow’s excellent performance on Dynamite this past week versus the debuting W. Morrissey, who was selected by MJF to be a mystery opponent.
“It was an outstanding performance for Wardlow,” Tony stated. “He’s a shining light in the sky. Obviously, MJF is keeping a tight grip on him at the moment. He’s being held back by MJF, and the supporters are growing to adore him even more as a result. Wardlow seems to be gaining more and more support from the public with each passing week, which I believe is fantastic.
This has been a long time coming, truly for years. The fans have backed Wardlow and want to see Wardlow stand up to MJF, and now they’re seeing it, and the public has responded really positively to it,” says the actor.
The AEW Dynamite will make their return to the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York, on Wednesday. On December 8, 2021, when All Elite Wrestling broadcasted from the arena for the last time, MJF was greeted with a hero’s welcome by his local supporters. Tony Khan is eager to see what type of response The Salt of the Earth would have, given his current narrative with a former colleague, Wardlow.
“It will be really fascinating to watch how people react,” Khan remarked of the reception. It’ll be the same hero’s welcome that we have become used to witnessing on Long Island for MJF. We’ll see what happens.
The contract signing for the Wardlow vs. MJF match will take place later today.” Dynamite will be airing on Wednesday night, and I think we’ll find out what MJF has up his sleeve that will be very nefarious.
