Dr. Krishna Singh was charged guilty of sexual offenses against 48 women in his 35 years of experience. The investigation started after a complaint was registered in April 2018.
On Thursday, a doctor of Indian origin practicing in the UK was found guilty by the Glasgow High Court for sexually harassing 48 women in the course of his 35 years, while working as a general practitioner. The police investigated this matter after a complaint was registered against him in 2018.
A 72-year-old general practitioner (GP), Dr. Krishna Singh, was accused of groping, kissing, giving inappropriate examinations, and passing unsavory comments on his female patients. He was subsequently arrested in 2018 by the Scotland Police after a woman registered the complaint in April 2018. However, he denied the accusations and insisted the patients were wrongly accusing him, during his trial.
According to the news reports from Scotland, the charges against him spanned from February 1983 to May 2018. It mainly occurred during his medical practice in North Lanarkshire. As per police reports, he has tried molesting women during his hospital ER and medical department visits, a police station visits, and visit a to a patient’s house.
Prosecutor Angela Gray told the court that Dr. Singh was a routine offender who molested women. She also quoted that sexually offending a woman was a part of his work life and that female patients have unknowingly or knowingly fallen prey to his subtle or camouflaged offenses.
The General Practitioner, Dr. Krishna Singh, was once a respected member of the community. To honor his contributions to the medical field, he was awarded by the Royal Member of the Order of the British Empire. The doctor was convicted of 54 charges, which mainly consisted of multiple sexual and indecent assaults. However, the investigation couldn’t prove nine charges and not guilty on a further two.
The judge hearing the case has postponed the hearing for next month and allowed Singh to be released on bail on the condition that he has to surrender his passport.
