FIFA World Cup: A major upset was seen in Group H of the ongoing Football World Cup in Qatar. While South Korea beat Portugal 2-1 to seal their place in the last 16, Uruguay were knocked out of the tournament despite their win over Ghana.

This year’s FIFA World Cup being played in Qatar has been full of vicissitudes. From the group stage, 4 big teams were forced out of the tournament due to their poor performance. On Friday, the team of two-time world champion Uruguay missed out on a place in the knockout round even after winning the last match due to average performance in the opening matches.
Two matches were played in Group H on Friday in the FIFA World Cup. In one of its matches, South Korea faced Portugal and in the second match, Uruguay faced Ghana. Uruguay needed a win of their own as well as a defeat of South Korea to advance to the pre-quarterfinals. Uruguay won their match 2–0 but Korea dashed their dreams by defeating Portugal.

Uruguay’s star player Luis Suarez broke down in tears after being knocked out in the first round of the World Cup. Sorge’s eyes were moist on the field itself and when he was returning back to the dressing room, he was seen crying. The video of this incident has been posted by FIFA itself on its social media account. Let us tell you that South Korea and Ghana had the same four points but the Asian team was able to advance due to better goal difference.

The team that won the World Cup in 1954, 1974, 1990, 2014 finished third in the group with 4 points from 3 matches with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.In the current FIFA rankings, the Belgium team, which is in second place, also got eliminated due to 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss like Germany. Denmark’s exclusion from the top 10 ranking was even more shocking. The team could not get a single victory.
