On Wednesday, a special MP-MLA court had announced the quantum of punishment after former MP Akshay Pratap Singh was found guilty of obtaining an arms license on a fake address on March 15.Â
Akshay Pratap Singh alias Gopalji was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rupees 10,000 in a special MP-MLAÂ court on Wednesday. The court in Pratapgarh had found him guilty of obtaining an arms license(revolver) in a fake address on March 15. It announced the quantum of the punishment on March 23.Â
Case against Akshay Pratap Singh
Akshay Pratap Singh obtained the arms licence by showing a Pratapgarh address whereas he is a resident of the Jama area of Amethi in 1997. Â The current police station-in charge at the time had filed a cased against him for cheating and forgery which was going on in the MP-MLA court.
The case was filed under the Indian Penal code section 420, 468 and 471. The case was going on but after finding him guilty on March 15, the court declared his punishment on Wednesday.Â
Political connections of the Ex-MP
The former MP and outgoing MLC, Akshay Pratap Singh is a close associate and relative of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya. He has been elected as the MP from Pratapgarh once in 2004 and a three time MLC. Â
Raghuraj Pratap Singh who is the leader of the Jansatta Dal Loktantrik has been re-elected in the recent assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. Akshay Pratap Singh was a candidate of Jansatta Dal Loktantrik in the upcoming MLC election.Â
