F1 is back from summer break. The Dutch GP is held from 25th to 27th of August . The season is dominated by Verstappen and red bull . But there has been some pleasant surprise ,in the form of Alonso and Norris who have been exciting in otherwise a boring season . Max Verstappen is on course to win his third consecutive Formula One world championship after a dominant start to the 2024 season.
The Dutchman has won 10 of the first 12 races, and is nearly double the points of his teammate Sergio Perez in the standings. Verstappen’s Red Bull car has been the class of the field, and he has been able to extract the maximum from it on a consistent basis. The midfield battle this season has been very competitive .
FP2 crash
After a traditional one month break ,f1 started with free practice 1 and 2 on Friday . During FP2, Oscar Piastri lost control of his car and hit the barrier in the dangerous section of track ,turn 3. Riccardo, unaware of the crash, was heading and full speed and to avoid crashing into his own countrymen,he swerved into the wall . This resulted in Riccardo breaking a bone in his hand . He has been replaced with Liam Lawson for the remainder of the Dutch Grand Prix
Vettel record
Sebastian Vettel holds the record for the most consecutive wins in Formula One, with nine. He achieved this feat in 2013, winning the Belgian Grand Prix, Italian Grand Prix, Singapore Grand Prix, Japanese Grand Prix, Korean Grand Prix, Indian Grand Prix, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, United States Grand Prix, and Brazilian Grand Prix.
The previous record of eight consecutive wins was held by Alberto Ascari, who achieved it in 1952 and 1953. Vettel’s record is even more impressive considering that he did it in a single season, while Ascari’s record was spread over two seasons.
Vettel’s nine consecutive wins came at a time when he was at the peak of his powers. He had just won his third consecutive world championship, and he was driving a dominant Red Bull car.
He was able to capitalise on his car’s advantage and put in some flawless performances. However, if anyone is capable of breaking Vettel’s record, it is Max Verstappen. Verstappen is currently on a run of eight consecutive wins, and he has the potential to be even more dominant than Vettel was in 2013.
Qualifying
Max Verstappen set the top time in Q3 and earned him a third pole in his home track. He was followed by Norris and Russell . The stunning result of the qualifying was of Albon and Logan Sargeant in Q3. The qualifying session was first done in rain and by Q3 ,the Track had dried for the cars to use soft tires.
There were two crashes in Q3 . But nothing could hinder Max Verstappen . His teammate’s disappointing run continued ,as he got out-qualified by Carlos Sainz and will start the race in 7. Lewis Hamilton was eliminated in Q2,
The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, August 27 2024. The race is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM local time.It will start at 6.30 pm in India . Verstappen will be looking to secure his third win in the Dutch Grand Prix, and he will be the favourite to do so after taking pole position. However, Norris, Albon, and Russell will all be hoping to challenge for the podium.
Verstappen is still only 25 years old, and he has the potential to be one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time. He is already a three-time world champion, and he is showing no signs of slowing down. If he can continue his dominance in the years to come, he could go on to win many more championships. He will watch Vettel record in Zandvoort and possibly set a new record if he wins in Ferrari home turf ,Monza .
