The World Health Organization (WHO) urges countries to increase surveillance and vigilance toward the monkeypox outbreak
Monkeypox has reached up to 20 countries with over 200 cases in a short period. Seeing the disease spreading World Health Organization has asked countries to stay more vigilant to control the spread of the disease in their countries as well.
Usually, such outbreaks are described by the World Health Organization as containable epidemics s just said that they can be treated by creating a stockpile to equitably share the limited vaccine and drugs available globally so that people who are suffering from the disease are not left in the dark without the correct vaccine and drug that can cure it.
The World Health Organization seeing the reported cases of monkeypox are saying that ‘this is concerning’, as they still don’t know whether they are just seeing the peak of an iceberg as we are at the very beginning of the epidemic and more will be known when the situation or more cases present themselves.
The World Health Organization has asked health officers and the government to enhance their surveillance and isolate the people who are suffering from the infected disease. They also urged that there is no need to panic as they do not know at what stage of the epidemic the world is.
There have been no cases reported of monkeypox in India so far but Airports and other medical facilities are keeping a check on the patients and passengers coming from different countries so that they are not a carrier of the disease.
People are being constantly monitored so that no such threat of the disease breaks out in India as well.
