Bisahulal Singh asserted that certain upper-caste families keep their women at home.
Bisahulal Singh, the former Madhya Pradesh politician, apologised after a scandal erupted over his statement against upper-caste women. According to the BJP politician, many upper-caste families keep their women in their houses. Such women “should be hauled out” and forced to work in society to achieve equality.
Following a warning from chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bisahulal Singh apologised on Sunday for his statements that upper-caste women should labour like those from the lowest strata of society.
The statements made on Thursday sparked a backlash from Rajput and other higher caste organisations. “In the countryside, women from lower social strata work in the fields and handle home tasks.
Big individuals like Thakur and Thakar, on the other hand, keep their wives confined to their houses and do not allow them to leave. On Thursday, Sahu, a tribal, said, “They should remove them out of their huts because both men and women should work equally.”
Chouhan claimed on Sunday that he spoke with Sahu and that he had publicly apologised for his remarks. “Whatever the sentiment, the message must be delivered correctly. Every phrase should be carefully spoken.
I’ve told all ministers and MLAs not to make such remarks under any circumstances.” He went on to say that anyone who gives the incorrect message to the public will not be forgiven. He went on to say that women must be respected.
Sahu stated in a video that he has always appreciated women. “I apologise for offending their feelings with my comments. “I had no intention of hurting anyone.”
Bisahulal Singh, who is in charge of food and civil supplies in the Madhya Pradesh government, stated during a press conference on Wednesday that higher caste and influential individuals confine their women to the home and that if social equality is desired, these ladies should be dragged out of their homes. Several news outlets covered the storey, and the comments drew widespread condemnation on social media.
The minister stated that his party’s – the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – family members were not present, so he suggested that they should all be brought out and put their hands to work for the society and the party.
“I didn’t mention Thakur ladies or MP women. I pointed to members of our board of directors and Brahmins from the district. I don’t believe I stated anything incorrectly. If someone has been wounded, please accept my apologies,” he added.
