Darlings was released on Netflix on August 5, 2022. The film stars Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles along with Vijay.
Bollywood actor Vijay Varma is presently enjoying success as he has been bombarded with praises ever since his latest film Darlings was unveiled on Netflix.
Vijay played the role of Hamza, where he received both critical and public acclaim for his portrayal as a drunk and wife-beater in the recent Netflix film Darlings. He shared his mother’s reaction to his portrayal in the film. The actor told sources that his mother was concerned that no one would marry her son after the film.
“I am getting all kinds of reactions after the release of Darlings; some are saying we hate Hamza; some are praising my performing skills but the funniest has been my mom. She watched the film and called me in panic. She was worried that no one would marry her son now. I get where she was coming from but I had such a good laugh after hearing her reaction. I had to calm her down and assure her that this won’t happen. Secretly, I am also hoping it doesn’t (sic)”, Vijay was quoted as saying.
The actor was born and raised in Hyderabad. According to sources, he later attended the famous Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) film school in Pune to study acting without the support of his parents.
Now that Darlings has been released on the OTT platform Netflix, the actor has an interesting list of films ahead of him including Devotion of Suspect X starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Dahaad starring Sonakshi Sinha, Mirzapur 3, and Sumit Saxena’s untitled sequel.
Darlings tell the story of a mother-daughter duo searching for their daughter’s apparently missing husband. The film stars Shefali Shah, Alia Bhatt, and Vijay Varma in the lead roles. The film, which premiered on Netflix on August 5, is Alias’ first film as a producer (Eternal Sunshine Productions).
