As the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) won Uttar Pradesh, Yogi is all set to become the first Chief Minister to return to power in the state after completing a five-year term.
With this BJP also has become the first party to retain power in the state since 1985.
This win has secured the pole position for the party in national politics based on electoral affirmation for the record of its governance.
Since 2014, BJP has lost its governments in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand.
Yogi’s win has created history in the state and made these elections memorable for many years to come. He has emerged as the new hero figure and the most powerful chief minister of the party.
Following his speech after the mandate’s wrap-up, Adityanath underlined the key theme that he feels became the reason for the party’s win. He said that ‘BJP’s double engine government, created a secured atmosphere and gave respect to faith in the past five years.’
PM Modi on the Party’s Memorable Win
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the elections a ‘Festival of Democracy’. He thanked the voters in the state for their mandate in favor of BJP and the other three states as well, describing them as “jeet ka chauka”.
Stating that the results approve of BJP’s proactive governance, Modi added that with BJP’s win in the assembly polls, the festival of Holi has already begun.

- According to the Election Commission (EC) website, BJP has won 255 seats in the polls, while its rival Samajwadi Party won 111 seats.
- Congress showed a dull result with only two seats.
- BSP of Mayawati, a four-time chief minister, won just one seat despite polling 12.88 percent votes.
- Rajeev Chandrashekhar, who was part of BJP’s campaign strategy scheme said, ‘This win is the victory of the new narrative of development, welfare, law, and order. It has proven the trust the people have developed for the party which forced the incumbency wave’.
