One Direction’s “Night Changes” was performed a cappella by Zayn Malik in a video that he posted online. Fans fell in love with his soulful voice after seeing their heartfelt tweets about him go viral.
The One Direction hit “Night Changes,” which is currently the boy band’s No. 1 song on Spotify, was performed by the 29-year-old in a rare video that he uploaded.
The second half of the chorus, which was originally performed by bandmate Harry Styles, is sung by Malik in the new music video. He croons, “Everything that you’ve ever dreamed of/ Disappearing when you wake up/ But there’s nothing to be afraid of/ Even when the night changes/ It will never change me and you.”
Although Malik generally stays away from talking about his time in 1D, this is really the second time in the past three months that he has posted about the group’s back catalog. One Direction’s fourth and final single from their 2013 album Midnight Memories, “You & I,” was released by him in a video in June. Astute fans saw that his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson liked the film on Instagram.
Naturally, admirers gushed in the comments section over his voice and the fact that he was performing a One Direction song after so many years. Zayn singing 1D songs in 2022 is reportedly the nicest thing that could happen, according to one commenter.
The then-22-year-old informed fans of his resignation from the group in a message posted on social media at the time.
More than I could have ever anticipated, he wrote, “My life with One Direction has been.” “But I think the time is appropriate for me to quit the band now that it has been five years. If I’ve let anyone down, I’d like to apologize to the fans, but I have to follow my gut instinct.”
Zayn gave a brutally honest assessment on One Direction’s music after leaving the group.
In a 2015 interview with The FADER, he said, “That’s not music I would listen to,” and later added, “As much as I was in that band, and I loved everything that we accomplished, that’s not music I would listen to.”
