On Tuesday, at Satyawati college in Bharat Nagar, Delhi police inaugurated 11 pink booths to provide protection and guidance to women related to any matter.
The pink booths are set up in police stations which will help women file complaints easily.
All 11 booths are in areas heavily populated by women, such as schools, universities, coaching centers, or areas near crowded marketplaces.
Special commissioner (L&O) Depender Pathak inaugurated a “Pink Booth” at Satyawati College in Bharat Nagar to serve children and women.
In an interview with Times of India, Depender Pathak said that the campaign was a part of Delhi Police’s ‘Tejaswini Women Safety and Empowerment initiative that strives to safeguard women’s safety in public, private, and digital areas.
These booths are designed to provide women and girls with safety, security, facilitation, and guidance. These will serve as a one-stop center for them to go to if they have a problem or want to report a crime or violence against them.
There are various instances where women are hesitant to go to the police station to file a complaint, or women from different areas are reluctant to go to the police station.
The police department conducts ongoing public awareness campaigns. Pink booths are being set up all across Delhi to encourage women to take a stance for themselves. Even the officers who work in the pink booths are women.
Women’s issues will be addressed at this booth, and policewomen will take quick legal action in response to their complaints. Instead of going to a police station, the booth attempts to create a safe complaint redressing option for women in a crowded marketplace.
The goal is to raise public awareness about crime and seek comments from citizens. Women and girls shall be encouraged to report incidences of violence against them by the policewomen.
