According to Ukrainian officials, a Russian missile strike on the western Ukrainian province of Ivano-Frankivsk resulted in the death of an eight-year-old kid.
Ballistic missiles fired
The incident was carried out on Friday morning, according to the Polish national news agency PAP.
According to the Ukrainian air force, Russian forces fired four Kinzhal ballistic missiles at an airstrip in the Ivano-Frankivsk area, targeting Ukrainian pilots who were set to go to Europe for F-16 fighter aircraft training.

According to news sources, the missiles hit a neighboring residential residence, killing an eight-year-old kid who later passed away in a hospital from critical injuries.

Officials report that further injuries have occurred.
A children’s hospital in Kyiv’s Obolonskyi area was hit by numerous missile fragments in a separate incident, CNN said, citing the city’s military administration.
Serhii Popko, the director of the military administration in Kyiv, stated that information on fatalities and property damage was being clarified.
Earlier that day, Moscow said that it had shot down a second drone that had been hovering over the city and had come down close to the Karamyshevskaya embankment.
On Friday, a second drone was spotted hovering over the Russian capital; according to Moscow officials, it had been “eliminated.”
One missile destroyed
According to the Reuters news agency, one of the four Kinzhal warheads had been gunned down not far from Kyiv.
A X-47 (hypersonic) missile was shot down within the Kyiv region, according to the Ukrainian air force. The rest struck close to the airport. One among the missiles struck a residential neighborhood and damaged the civil infrastructure.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russian forces conducted five missile attacks on Ukraine on Friday, all of which resulted in at least one fatality.
Officials said one of the hits was destroyed.
Previous attacks
Russian forces also attacked Ukrainian military and villages with 24 airstrikes and about 37 shelling sorties, razing homes and civic infrastructure, according to the General Staff, as reported by the British publication The Guardian.
The Ukrainian military leadership issued a warning in its daily summary, saying that “the likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.”
