In Uttar Pradesh Medical college principal among five booked in connection with MBBS student suicide case.
Case Brief
A student’s father named Uday Singh Shankhwar lodged a complaint against five persons, which include the college principal Dr Sangeeta Aneja and Controller of Examination Gaurav Singh under section 306 of Indian Penal Code.The Student Shailendra Shankhwar was 21 years old first year student found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room at the medical college. According to the police Shankwar exam was on saturday and when he did not reach the examination hall the college staff went to the hostel room to check and found the room was locked from inside. The staff broke down the door and found that Shankhwar was hanging from the ceiling.
Formation of committee
District Magistrate Ravi Rajan said a committee has been formed to deal with the incident. On the complaint lodged allegation made on the principal and gaurav singh threaten to not allow him to sit in the examination. The remarks on his caste were also allegedly made on him.
Effect
After hearing about the suicide, the student of college blocked the highway. The student demanded action against the principal and hostel warden.
The last rites of the student were conducted among tight securities. The postmortem of the deceased student was also done.
Section 306 of IPC
Section 306. of the Indian Penal Code defines ‘Abetment of suicide’ as an offence punishable under this code. If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
Investigation is under process done by the officials according to the procedure.
