Online amusement has been sparked by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif‘s difficult situations at the current SCO conference in Uzbekistan. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, could be seen smiling next to Sharif who was seen fighting with his earbud.
Shiren Mazari of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) posted a video of Sharif and Putin sitting next to one another. Sharif tries to adjust his earphone as the conversation is about to start but fails. He gets assistance, and it is rectified. The earphone falls off once more, and Sharif seeks assistance.
Mazari, the leader of the PTI, also made fun of Sharif, referring to him as a “continuous embarrassment for Pakistan.” “This Crime Minister causes Pakistan ongoing disgrace. At some point, even Vladimir Putin just had to laugh at this clumsy individual. Pathetic. Was this the goal of the plotters? To intentionally choose a politician who would be a thief and a miserable excuse for a prime minister? Mazari tweeted.
Users commented on the video as it gained popularity and questioned why it was embarrassing. A video of Imran Khan’s “atta per litre” blunder was also widely disseminated. “His in-ear attachment fell out which even in studio settings is often placed by studio technicians. There is plenty to criticise politicians of all parties, why can’t you lot move beyond these non-issues? Ordinary tweeps might still do it, but you are a minister. Are you 15?” a user asked. Another user commented “He has no confidence, no personality. Wearing expensive suits can’t make one a leader. What an embarrassment.”
