In the course of the current Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi claims to have developed more patience and the capacity to listen to people.
After travelling more than 2,000 kilometres as part of his ambitious foot march, a mass engagement campaign that he began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, Rahul Gandhi landed in the Indore area of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
In response to a question on the yatra’s most gratifying moment, Rahul Gandhi said to the media on Monday, “There are many, but I instantly recall a few interesting ones, including that my patience has dramatically increased because of the yatra.” “Secondly, now I don’t get irritated, even for eight hours, if someone pushes or pulls me. It doesn’t affect me, whereas earlier I used to get irritated even after two hours,” he said.
The former Congress President said, “If you are walking in the yatra and experience pain, then you have to face it, you can’t just give up.”
He added that he has improved in his capacity to listen to others. “Like if someone comes to me, I listen more to him. I feel all these things are quite beneficial for me,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi also said that he experienced knee pain when he began the foot march because of a previous injury that had been treated. He added that there was worry over whether or not he would be able to move in such a state and that there was a lot of agony as a result.
“But, gradually, I faced that fear as I had to walk, there was no question about it. Such moments are always good because something is disturbing you and you’ve got to adapt to it,” he said.

Gandhi recalled an incident from a foot march in one of the southern states when, as he was becoming distressed from the agony as people continued to push him, a young girl arrived and began walking in the yatra.
He mentioned a girl who came to him and gave him a letter as the nicest experience he had while on the yatra. Her age was probably between six and seven. He read the note she had given him before she left, which stated, “I don’t think I’m travelling alone; I’m walking with you.” My parents won’t let me walk, so even though I can’t walk, I’m walking with you. Gandhi admired the girl’s thoughtfulness.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra
The Indian National Congress launched the Bharat Jodo Yatra, an ongoing mass activity. Rahul Gandhi is leading the initiative by organising party members and the general public.
The Yatra started on September 7 in Kanyakumari and will travel through 12 states before finishing in Jammu and Kashmir. It will cover a distance of over 3,500 km in roughly 150 days.
It is the seventh day of the yatra in Madhya Pradesh and the 83rd day overall. Notably, the Yatra would traverse 7 districts in the state over the course of 12 days. According to Congress, the purpose of this yatra is to strengthen and unify India as a whole.
