On December 10, at around 1 a.m. Sarhali Police Station in Tarn Taran was attacked by a rocket launcher-like weapon. Seven months back a similar attack with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) was launched at Punjab police headquarters in Mohali.
As per the information, this seems to be a terror at the police station. A probe is underway into this case. Police haven’t ruled out a terror angle regarding the Tarn Taran police being attacked. Several investigation agencies like National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Research Analysis Wing (RAW) have been briefed on the development.
The incident took place at Sarhali police station on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway in the Tarn Taran district which is near the border and is suspected that RPG launched could be cross-border terrorism.
As per the latest updates, Khalistani Terrorist organization, Sikh for justice claimed responsibility for the attack on the police station.
Khalistani terror org claims responsibility
As per the information, CP Ludhiana issued an alert to all higher authorities and police officials.
According to the information, there is an alleged ancestral house of Khalistani-backed terrorists namely Harvinder Singh Sandhu (Rinda) located near Sarhali. Reportedly, Rinda was involved in several terror activities in Punjab and had provided arms to the accused involved in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
This attack on the Sarhali police station is carried out by Khalistani terrorist who was given instructions by ISI.
The case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and forensic teams were present at the spot after the state police chief registered the case.Â
Punjab DGP said that they will probe the case technically and forensically and all clues have been collected from the crime scene. A preliminary probe reveals that it should be military-grade hardware and it could be a matter of trans-border smuggling. Punjab police with BSF and Central agencies will probe the case.Â
He said that there is a clear indication of a strategy to bleed India.

Mohali attacked with an RPG
Seven months back on May 9, 2022, Punjab Police’s headquarter was attacked with an RPG. Mohali Superintendent of police headquarters Ravinder Singh called it a minor blast and none was armed due to it. On May 13, Punjab DGP Viresh Kumar Bhawra said that an RGP attack was carried out by Babbar Khalsa International and gangsters backed by ISI. He added that six people have been arrested by the police related to the case. The main conspirator has been identified as Lakhbir Singh Landa. He (Landa) was an associate of Rinda.
