Buried is an Iraq-based story, where a man named “Paul Conroy”, a truck driver and civilian contractor who got attacked by the gang, finds himself in a tiny coffin with no visibility, both his hands and mouth tied with cloth, and no space to move.
Cast: Actor; Ryan Reynolds, Â
Director; Rodrigo Cortés
Knowing that nobody could hear his voice and no one was there, he started panicking and was buried alive with only his lighter and phone. The movie is more like having a terrific claustrophobia nightmare.
The entire film revolves around one character, one place, and that’s it. Suspense is there throughout the movie for his next step, but there is no movement or action. It is just one person lying there (in a coffin) and seeking help for his life.
The actor did justice to the character by his looks or expressions, and also, the technical team did a commendable job. The director uses the correct warm light to showcase the intense or worried look and for the darkness or to feel more horrific. The camera angle was perfect to showcase that the coffin was tiny, but it’s not in reality.
Rating of Buried :Â 7/10Â Â
This film makes me feel the same way that ‘Paul Conroy’ feels in that movie. There is a feeling of having a claustrophobic attack, i.e., sweating, breathing problems, panic attacks. In fact, during an interview, Ryan Reynolds also said that he had the worst experience while shooting, as he spend14 days in a seven-foot-long coffin. He also started to feel claustrophobic and never wanted to experience that again.
Overall, the movie is suitable for thriller lovers, but it also takes you to the border of anxiety. The main objective of this film is lost somewhere. It’s not enough to convince me that someone is trapped in a coffin doing such things. Â
