In Delhi, after colliding with a car early on Sunday morning while riding a scooter, a 23-year-old woman who was on her way home was dragged by the vehicle for kilometers from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in Delhi.

A CCTV video of the car that dragged a woman for a few kilometers in Delhi on New Year’s morning has leaked on social media. On Sunday, a 20-year-old lady died after her scooter was hit by a car and her body was pulled for kilometers in the Sultanpuri district of outside Delhi.
Sunday’s incident in Sultanpuri, a neighborhood outside of Delhi, led to the arrest of five passengers from a Maruti Baleno. The five suspects in the Kanjhawala case who were arrested for the woman’s killing were detained in police custody for three days by a Delhi court on Monday. A detailed court order is awaited.
Five men traveling in Maruti Suzuki Baleno, – Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal, have been arrested by police. Deepak works as a driver, Amit handles SBI cards in Uttam Nagar, Krishan is employed at Connaught Place, Mithun is a hairstylist in Naraina, and Mittal is a food vendor in Sultanpuri, according to the DCP.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The body was discovered over an hour later, according to police she has been identified as a BJP Leader. The car is seen driving away on a road in the video. Though it is unclear whether the woman, Anjali, was trapped under the car, a shadow can be seen beneath the four-wheeler.
The Case’s Eyewitness –
Deepak Dahiya owns a sweets shop near Kanjhawala Road in the village of Ladpur. He claimed that the accused dragged the woman’s body, which had been entangled to their vehicle, for 18 to 20 kilometers and for around one and a half hours.
“The time was 3:20 a.m., I was standing outside the store when I heard a loud noise coming from around 100 meters distant from a vehicle. Initially, I believed it was a tire rupture. I noticed a body being dragged as soon as the car moved. I immediately contacted the police” According to Dahiya.
After some time, he stated around 3:30 a.m., the car made a U-turn, and the woman’s lifeless corpse was still trapped beneath the vehicle. Dahiya said the accused drove repeatedly on the road of about 4-5 kilometers by repeatedly taking U-turns. “I tried to stop them many times but they did not stop the vehicle. For about one and a half hours they carried the woman’s body for about 20 km, I tried to stop them multiple times but they did not stop the vehicle,” he claimed.
Dahiya stated that he chased the car on his motorcycle and was in contact with the police. Later, the body fell from the car near Jyoti village on Kanjhawala Road after approximately an hour and a half, he claimed, and the suspects escaped. “It couldn’t be an accident,” Dahiya insisted.
Accused Unaware of Dragging the Woman: POLICE–
The victim’s leg got caught in one of the car’s wheels, dragging her for a few kilometers, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Harendra Kumar Singh. Police claimed that the suspect was unaware that their car was dragging the victim. Later, when they learned about it, they became terrified. Then they pulled the corpse from the car and ran off. They then escaped after removing the body from the car.
A case under IPC sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) have been filed against the five suspects. The victim used to take part-time work for weddings and other occasions. She was on her way home when it happened.
Her clothes and even the back of her body had been torn off when the body was finally found after being pulled out for a while. The girl’s relatives, however, doubted the claims that it was an accident and expressed concern that the guys who had been apprehended might have assaulted her sexually.
Commission For Women in Delhi Pays Attention –
Swati Maliwal has requested that the Delhi Police provide a copy of the FIR, information on the accused who was arrested in connection with the incident, and a copy of the woman’s post-mortem report in a letter to the deputy commissioner of police, outside Delhi.
The DCW has also requested information from the Delhi Police regarding their investigation into the possibility of a sexual assault, a list of the police checkpoints that were in the path of the car that struck the girl, whether any police officers stopped the vehicle, and whether they tested the suspect for alcohol use.
The DCW chairperson has also requested an explanation from the Delhi Police regarding why neither the PCR nor other law enforcement officers stopped the car when it was dragging the girl. It has requested a response to its summons from the Delhi Police by January 5 in the form of an action taken report.
Locals Protest of The Offenders’ Speedy And Severe Sentencing
Many people gathered outside the Sultanpuri Police Station Monday and blocked traffic demanding punishment for the men who dragged a woman under their car for kilometers.
Rekha, the mother of the victim, said, “I spoke to her at 9 pm on Saturday and asked when she would return. She said she will come home in some time. Later, I took my medicines and went to sleep, after that, I have no idea what happened.” Police are not doing anything, they are just trying to make it look like an accident, she said.
