Luke Hobbs will return for a new “Fast & Furious” stand-alone movie, announced Dwayne Johnson, who has resolved his long-standing dispute with Vin Diesel.
The Fast and Furious franchise will once again feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. After settling his long-running beef with Vin Diesel, the 51-year-old actor has confirmed that he will play Luke Hobbs once more. So I’m 100% confirming to you guys around the world that yes, it is true, the actor turned former wrestler wrote on Twitter. Hobbs is back. In the Fast and Furious series, Hobbs is back.
On the set of Fate of the Furious in 2016, Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel got into a famous argument that led Johnson to publicly express his annoyance on Instagram by calling out an unnamed male co-star. He has repeatedly stated in the media that he won’t be going back to the main franchise over the years.

The Announcement by Dwayne Johnson
The untitled project, which was hinted at in a surprise Easter egg at the end of last month’s “Fast X,” was officially announced by Universal Pictures the other day. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script for the new spinoff was written by former “Fast X” writer-producer Chris Morgan. Johnson, who in 2021 vowed to never again be involved in the muscle-car saga, then surprisingly announced his change of heart from a lanai in Hawaii.
“Your reactions around the world to Hobbs’ return in Fast X have blown us away,“ Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, wrote in a lengthy caption that accompanied the video. The movie, which will act as a transition between the recently released Fast X and the upcoming Fast X: Part II, will be “the HOBBS movie,” the actor confirmed.
“The Hobbs movie, which will act as a brand-new chapter and a setup for ‘Fast X: Part II’, will be the next ‘Fast & Furious’ movie in which you’ll see the illustrious lawman.” “Daddy’s gotta go to work,” Johnson concluded in the caption before signing off as his fictional persona.
Later on, Dwayne Johnson talked about his high-profile beef with Vin Diesel.
Though Vin and I occasionally disagree, the Hollywood star said, Vin and I have been close friends for a very long time. We disagree, but when introducing a new idea, you should always settle differences. But you also think about the future and your own, much bigger plans. These are the larger build-out plans.
Those bigger plans are the North Star. As I often say, the North Star is always my guiding light, and in this case, the North Star is the franchise that we love, the characters that we love, and the fans that we love. Thus, once all of that is considered, making a choice is not at all difficult. It’s a yes, and I can’t wait.

Insights into the movie
Together with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions, Dwayne Johnson will produce this project. Dany Garcia is Johnson’s ex-wife, and Hiram Garcia is Dany’s brother and Johnson’s former brother-in-law, demonstrating how seriously the creators are taking the “family” theme of the franchise.
Along with Roth/Kirschenbaum Films’ Jeff Kirschenbaum, Morgan’s Chris Morgan Productions, and Original Film’s Neal Moritz are also producing.
However, viewers shouldn’t get too giddy just yet about a Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel on-screen reunion. Additionally, according to sources, Diesel is not anticipated to play the lead in this side story, though nothing is being ruled out for potential future roles.
The two opposed megastars have essentially found a way to reconcile off-screen but not on-screen, bringing Dwayne Johnson back to the Fast franchise but excluding him from Diesel’s family gatherings.
