Virat Kohli, the former skipper of the Indian Cricket team, inadvertently helped the Bengaluru cops to catch the murderers of an old woman.
Kamla N Rao, an 82-year-old lady was murdered on May 27. Her mortal remains were discovered in the Mahalakshmipuram area of Bangalore. Police report that the words “King Kohli”, written on an auto rickshaw helped the police to catch the real culprits.
The officers can identify only three culprits, namely R. Ashok 40 years, Anjana Murthy 33 years, and Siddaraju 40 years old, who have been arrested. The police report that they all have planned to kill the elderly lady and then use her money and property to repay their debts.
They forged illegal methods or an easy path for paying their debts. They intended to kill the old lady and they were successful in doing that. But the question is, at “what cost?”
Accused Ashok visited the old lady’s house, and observed that lady lived all alone. Her husband died last year in October and her kids were not living with her. Ashok took this situation as an opportunity, a chance which can help him to wash away his debts.
He met the other accused, his friends, Anjana and Siddaraju in a bar and discussed the plan. All of them agreed and they were secretly murdered on May 27. They intended to sell Kamla’s gold ornaments, derive money from the ornaments, and ultimately free themselves from the Debt. But, little did they know, they would be caught.
According to the report, by 27 th morning, one of the accused was successful in removing the number plate from Anjanas auto rickshaw-which had the words “King Kohli” inscribed on them and moved around the vicinity of the old lady’s place. The culprits hired a different auto rickshaw in the context of renting the victim’s garage.
According to the cops, the three of them entered the house, tied the women’s arms and legs tightly with the rope, taped her mouth and then killed her. They first subdued all her hand and leg movements, so that she cannot move and taped her so that no noise can be made by her and she can seek help. The crime was committed with mastery.
No one had any idea, not even the lady’s immediate neighbours, that something suspicious was happening. One of the culprits, Ashok was guarding the house when the murder was taking place. Investigating officers were able to catch the accused by seeking the help of CCTV footage of the vicinity.
The police said we carefully scrutinized the area near Kamla’s house. We were able to see an auto-rickshaw doing many rounds of the road in the morning. The autorickshaw was circling the road of Kamla’s house. The autorickshaw had the words “King Kohli” inscribed over it”, but it has no registration number.
By further investigation through CCTV, the police were able to see Anjana removing the auto rickshaw’s number plate. The phrase “KING KOHLI”, really helped the police department to catch the real culprits and bring justice to the old lady.
