The northeastern part of India is already famous for its anytime emergency calls and violence. One place which is famous for its ongoing conflicts and emergency call at any time is – Manipur. The conflicts and chaos have been arousing in Manipur for a long time. Every then and now has become a part of the emergency in the state.
But the situation yesterday at midnight was completely different. Due to a thrive between the mobs and the officials two civilians were injured in a fresh round of violence in Manipur. This happened just after mobs clashed with security forces overnight in Izphal. The mobs also attempted to torch the houses of BJP leaders, officials told PTI.
The retired, Former Indian Army chief General VP Malik has sought the word ‘urgent attention’. The words of Malik are an urge to reset the ethnic clashes between the Meiteis and the Kuki tribe that have been going on since May 3. Referring to that tweet only Malik has asked that the issue “needs urgent attention”. In his tweet he also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah in the tweet. He was reacting to the tweet of Lieutenant General L Nishikanta R Singh (retired), who is a resident of the state. Singh said that Manipur is now “stateless”, and compared it with countries where incidents of violence and infighting are very common.
The reason behind these clashes in Manipur
Since a long time ago, Manipur has been a witness of violence arousing between two groups Meiteis and Kukis over demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category since May 3.
Facing that situation of emergency the Union Minister tried to appeal to the people of Manipur to maintain peace. The statement of the Union Minister, he gave to ANI is
“It is very sad to see what is happening in my home state. I will still continue to appeal for peace. Those indulging in this kind of violence are absolutely inhuman“
What happened yesterday at midnight ?
Yesterday night a group of approximately 1,000 people came together to set a situation of unrest in Manipur. They tried to burn down buildings near the palace compound. Amid this chaos, two civilians got injured when the mob and security forces were clashing with each other.
The groundbreaking part of this incident is that the group of people made attempts to torch the houses of BJP leaders, said by the officials said on Saturday morning
Apart from torching the house of BJP leaders, the mob has also practised other offensive activities. Talking about the separate incidents there were also some automatic gunfire reported. This incident is from Kwakta in Bishnupur district of Manipur and Kangvai in Churachandpur district through the night.
