Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film, “Jawan,” is creating waves in the world of advance bookings, with a promising start that could see it cross the Rs 40 crore mark on its first day. Over 4.25 lakh tickets have already been snapped up nationwide, excluding blocked seats. The Hindi version of the film has seen 4,00,769 tickets sold for 2D shows and 11,381 tickets for IMAX screenings.
In addition to its Hindi version, “Jawan” is making waves with its Tamil and Telugu showings, selling 8,486 and 5,535 tickets, respectively. In total, the film has sold 4,26,171 tickets in advance booking, even though only 55 percent of the shows are for its opening day. The impressive numbers have already translated to a gross advance booking collection of Rs 13.17 crore.
Key regions contributing to the success of “Jawan” in advance bookings include the National Capital Region (NCR) with Rs 2.26 crore, Mumbai with Rs 1.52 crore, Hyderabad with Rs 1.30 crore, Bengaluru with Rs 1.21 crore, Kolkata with Rs 1.25 crore, and Pune with Rs 56.03 lakh. For 2D shows of the Hindi version of “Jawan,” the total advance booking sales have reached Rs 12,17,88,221, as per the trade portal Sacnilk.
The IMAX showings of “Jawan” in Hindi have also generated substantial advance bookings, reaching Rs 78,58,239. Leading the way are NCR with Rs 32.36 lakh, Mumbai with Rs 23.48 lakh, Bengaluru with Rs 23.65 lakh, Pune with Rs 3.53 lakh, Kolkata with Rs 5.62 lakh, Chennai with Rs 8.68 lakh, Lucknow with Rs 4.46 lakh, and Coimbatore with Rs 3.85 lakh in advance bookings.
The film’s Tamil version has raked in approximately Rs 12,96,726, while its Telugu showings have amassed around Rs 7,69,451 in advance bookings.
National multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis have played a significant role in the film’s success, selling over 2 lakh tickets so far. PVR has sold 1,00,662 tickets, INOX has sold 65,215 tickets, and Cinepolis has sold 35,367 tickets. This amounts to a total of 2,01,245 tickets sold across these national multiplex chains.
These extraordinary numbers suggest that “Jawan” is poised to surpass the pre-sale figures of Shah Rukh Khan’s previous film, “Pathaan,” by a significant margin. Film critic and trade analyst Sumit Kadel predicts that “Jawan” will set an all-time opening record in Bollywood.
