On 3rd April 2022, Sunday evening, a Muslim man tried to enter the Gorakhnath Temple in Uttar Pradesh and attacked two policemen. The man armed with a sharp weapon tried to forcibly enter the temple and injured the two Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) with his weapon.
According to the news report published in Times Now, the attacker was chanting ‘Allah hu Akbar’ when he tried to attack the police personnel. He even tried to seize the SLR rifle but in the meantime, he was overpowered and arrested.
As quoted by Times Now, Additional Director General (ADG), Gorakhpur Zone, Akhil Kumar, said that the accused tried to enter the temple with a sharp-edged weapon and tried to attack the police. Both the injured police, Gopal Kumar Gaur and Anil Paswan are under medical treatment and the attacker is also under medical treatment for the injuries during his attack at the district hospital. The assailant identified as Mohammad Ahmed Murtaza is a resident of Gorakhpur.
The ADG further said that the incident cannot be ruled out since the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath visits the temple often and the temple is granted the highest level of security as the CM stays at the temple during his visits
