Introduction: –
If we talk about the present scenario that is happening around the world then how can we forget about Russia-Ukraine War? In the recent past because of this issue, the world has become tense and the people in Ukraine are suffering a lot because of the bombardments done by the Russian Forces on them.
It all started on 24 February 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine and it was considered an act of aggression. Because of this invasion done by Russia of Ukraine, has triggered Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II and the fact that cannot be hidden away from anyone is that with more than 4.3 million Ukrainians leaving the country and a quarter of the population being displaced, it is one of the biggest humanitarian crisis that has happened in the whole world recently.
Now if we go further into the details following the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, the invasion marked a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, and the most important fact to be noticed here is that Russia subsequently annexed Crimea and because of which Russian- backed separatists seized part of the South-Eastern Donbas region of Ukraine and hence it resulted in the war.
It can also be noted that the tensions on Ukraine’s border with Russia are at the highest in years. Organizations and countries such as NATO and US are stepping up support for Ukraine because they fear potential tension from Russia and hence because of all these reasons there is a great conflict going on between Russia-Ukraine.
If we look further into the issue then we observe that in Donetsk Basin which is a part of Ukraine’s Eastern Industrial separatist insurgency in 2014 and more importantly maritime advantage was further gained by Russia in the region due to its invasion and annexation of Crimea.
Because of all these reasons, to safeguard the integrity of Ukraine’s borders both the US and the EU have pledged to do the same.
Statistics and Human Rights Violation Due To War: –
If we believe reports of Statista Research Department which were published on April 7 2022,
then we see some shocking facts were from the first day of the war that is February 24 2022, there has been great humanitarian crisis observed in Ukraine as thousands of Ukrainians fled to the west of their country and more importantly as of April 6 neighboring country of Ukraine that is Poland recorded the highest number of refugees at over 2.5 million which was followed up by Romania, Hungary, and Moldova.
According to the UN News, it has been observed that there has been damage of $100 billion in infrastructure and the loss is still in counting in Ukraine. The country has seen because of the ongoing war
“freefall into poverty”
which is about 90 percent of the country and since Russia invaded its neighbor, it has led Ukraine to go into deep vulnerability for nearly three weeks. Because of all these reasons and the escalating war between Russia and Ukraine UNDP Administrator, Achim Steiner said, to help prevent these shocks and protect hard-won development gains,
“we need peace now.”
According to Wikipedia sources, since 1 month, 2 weeks, and 3 days, casualties were reported to be more than 6000 where 7228+ people were killed and also 2,383 people were wounded and if we talk about the Ukrainian Forces, 2000-4000 were killed and 16,000 wounded and in the camp of Russian forces 1,351 were killed and 3,825 were wounded and Russian and allied forces have suffered 10,000 + killed and 19,000 losses and all these are really sad statistics which has happened because of Russia-Ukraine War.
Social Media Influence in War: –
One of the Twitter account holders Alex Kokchar wrote on Twitter that the Russian-language segment of Twitter is full of reports that this #Russia n soldier named Aleksey Bychkov from Stavropol has raped toddlers (!!!) in #Ukraine and shared videos of these rapes. These videos are now circulating on social media. This is horrific. I have no words.
A video was shown by Nexta on Twitter where it was written that a new unit of “walking dead” is sent to #Ukraine from one of the poorest and most depressed regions of #Russia- #Tyva.
We are not even talking about the level of equipment in the second-hand army, you can see by yourself.
India Today uploaded a video on YouTube today showing information related to Russia-Ukraine War and it was day 45 of the war similarly Sky New also uploaded the video on Ukraine War: Life returns to Chernihiv as Russia’s siege withdrawn which got 619 likes, 57,384 views on April 7 2022
