Currently, China is facing the most severe and longest heat waves ever faced in the country since 1961. China’s National Meteorological Centre has declared a red alert for the scorching heat waves. The government announced a national Drought in the country.
On Wednesday, China Media Group reported that the heatwaves China is currently facing might be the most severe ever faced in decades. With the intensity, duration, and severe impact the government now hurries to take measures as it declares a national drought.
As mentioned by China’s National Meteorological Centre(NMC), the severe heat waves have been going on for 68 days now as of Friday. Starting from June 13th, the weather stations reported 262 areas with extreme heat.
 The severity of the heat led to the issuing of a red alert in several areas. The issue by the National Meteorological Centre of China. The red alert is the top tier alert is a deal of great concern. The alert is in China for 28 consecutive days now.Â
Troubles Faced in China
The scorching heat has led to a lot of difficulties and the potential worsening condition of drought isn’t helping the situation. Inhabitants along the Yangtze River, which has dried up to 20%, are being assisted as they were troubled with the drought. The drought is not only leading to damage to agricultural production but also affecting the industries someway or other.
The authorities are battling potential forest fires. Special teams are trying to protect the crops. As many as 66 rivers in the southwestern region of Chongqing district have dried up. Information was announced by the state broadcaster CCTV on Friday.Â
The weather stations across the country have reached the “extreme” standards in the measurement of the highest temperatures. The areas with temperatures leading to 40°C and above have increased when compared to the previous year’s census.
The heat is likely to persist for up to 10 more days as informed by the National Meteorological Centre of China.
