A woman journalist, employed with international news agency Reuters, was found dead in her Bengaluru flat under suspicious circumstances on Thursday, reported news agency IANS.
The Bengaluru police officials said that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
“On Tuesday, when he was unable to reach her, the brother, Nishant, visited her apartment and found the door locked. With the help of a neighbour, he broke open the door and found her decomposed body,” said the police, who suspect it to be a case of suicide.
According to police, Shruti (35) got married to Aneesh in 2017 and the two were living in a flat at Nellurhalli in Whitefield. Shruti was found hanging in her flat. The police claim that Shruti and Aneesh had a strained relationship. Police also added, that at the time of her death, her husband was in Kerala.
Shruti’s parents and relatives, however, suspect it to be a case of murder. They also said that her husband tortured her and objected to her decision to give a part of her income to her parents.
They also alleged that her husband had installed CCTV cameras to monitor her movements, and had also made an attempt to kill her in January.
