actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu much awaited mythological film has finally booked a date to hit on big screens this year. The actress has announced through an Instagram post the theatrical release of the film, Shaakunthalam. The film is a completely new genre for Prabhu and it is set to release on 17th February, where she will be seen alongside actor Dev Mohan. The movie is directed by Gunasekhar, and will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi; also in 3D.
After Yashoda, actress Samantha to be seen in Shaakunthalam
After the huge success of Yashoda, Samantha has announced the official release date of her completely never attempted genre, a mythological drama. This movie will be her 50th film and 48th Telegu/Tamil film. Previously the actor has worked in a Hindi film named Ekk Tha Deewana and has two movies lined up, where Aaradhya will mark her second Hindi film. Fans much await her completely new avatar in the mythological film which will release on 17th February.
Actress Samantha’s first 2024 movie was postponed
The film was initially announced to be released on November 4, but got postponed as the makers wanted it to give a bigger platform; to release it in 3D. The makers took to Twitter and released an official statement saying that they want to give Shaakunthalam a bigger experience and to re-release in 3D, thus they won’t be able to meet the earlier announced date and will soon announce the new date. Later this Monday actress Samantha took to Instagram and announced the new date with the confirmation of its 3D release.

Shakunthalam is a story based on a popular play Shakuntala by Kalidasa. The film features Samantha as Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the king of the Puru Dynasty. The film features Mohan Babu, Sachin Khedekar, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, and Varshini Sounderajan in prominent supporting roles, and actor Allu Arjun’s daughter Arha will mark her debut with this film in Telugu. The Music is composed by Mani Sharma and produced by Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venkateswara Creations.

After the huge success of her action thriller movie Yashoda which was released on the 11th of November 2022; she will be seen alongside actor Vijay Deverakonda in the romantic entertainer Kushi. This will be her second film with the actor after Mahanati (2018). In recent news and reports, it is being stated that the actress opted out of her Bollywood project Citadel which also starred actor Varun Dhawan, due to her health issues. However, it turns out to be not true. She also has one Hindi film lined up, namely Aaradhya.

Ever since Samantha was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis, she has been keeping a low profile. Later on this New Year, she shared a selfie on her Instagram profile and wrote a caption, “newer and easier resolutions” that are “kinder and gentler. Function forward… Control what we can!! Guess it’s time for newer and easier resolutions. Ones those are kinder and gentler on ourselves. God bless Happy 2024!!” Netizens and her fans wish her a speedy recovery.
