Akasa Air, the youngest airline started its first flight operations from Delhi International Airport here on Friday. The first flight has taken off from Delhi Airport at 11:40 pm and reached Bengaluru Airport at 2:25 pm.
Earlier on August 7, Akasa Air started its commercial domestic operations and plans are afoot to begin international flights by the end of 2022.
Akasa Air completed 60 days of operations on Friday, the company official said.
Akasa Air through its Twitter account shared its excitement about the first flight from Delhi Airport.
It wrote “A ?-ka connection is being formed!! Excited about our first flight from @DelhiAirport today!!”
From another tweet, Akasa Air shared glimpses of the celebrations at the Delhi Airport as the first commercial flight taken off from Delhi Airport to Bengaluru Airport.
The tweet says “Delighted to take off from DELwallo ki Dilli for the first time today! Enjoy a glimpse of our celebration @DelhiAirport. We are progressively expanding our network and connecting more cities.”
The youngest airline has currently a fleet of six planes and runs around 30 flight daily.
Akasa Air expands its operations
However, the airline company will get 18 brand-new aircraft by March 2024. Akasa Air has also ordered 72 Boeing 737-800 MAX Planes.
Ever since the government withdrew fare caps on August 31, the Akasa airline company has increased the competition between the airline players in India.
The competition among the airline players has reached to next level, with Akasa Air offering Mumbai to Ahmedabad flight tickets for Just Rs 1,400.
The offer laid other airline competitors to reduce airfare prices one such is Go First has reduced the fare of the busiest route to Rs 1,000.
Usually the busiest route between Mumbai to Ahmedabad prices ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000.
The airline company is planning to have sustainable long-term players. The routes in which the company are operating are busy and need capacity.
Pets are allowed.
The airline will allow pets, domesticated dogs and cats on flights from November 1.
Pets weighing up to seven kilograms are going to be allowed onboard. Pets between seven kilograms and 32 kilograms will need to be checked in at airports.
The weight between 32 to 100 kilograms pets is going at checked in at the cargo terminal as they will be taken on air in larger crates.
Different categories of weights pets are charged separately and prices are announced shortly by the airline management.
Bookings open from October 15.
The bookings for pets which are going to fly from November 1 will start reservations from October 15.
The airline management is going to allow a maximum of one pet in the passenger cabin and another one in the cargo hold.
Overall two pets are allowed for passengers on a flight. The pet allowed in the cabin will need to be in a crate and pet parents are advised to make them wear a guard to cover their noses and mouths.
The pet basket is placed in front of the accompanying passenger seat.
According to Akasa Air management, the basket size of pets up to 32 kilograms is minimum enough to go through airport counters.
Whereas heavy-weight pets up to 100 kilograms are allowed to check through cargo counters.
Air India flights allow two pets in a cabin per flight, one in the last row of first or business class and another one in the last row of economy class along with accompanying passengers.
As of now, Air India allows a pet to import or export from India as baggage is required with suitable regulations and has no clearance from Animal Quarantine & Certification Service (AQCS) in India, before the commencement of the journey.
The AQCS can be done in only six airports like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
