An accused person in a cow slaughter case was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court upon its condition that he would work in a cow shelter for the duration of one month.Â
In addition, the accused was requested to make a deposit of one thousand rupees (Rs.) in favor of a recognized cow shelter.
On Wednesday, when Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav was hearing the bail appeal of Saleem alias Kalia, he issued the ruling.
At the Bhojipura police station in the Bareilly district, a First Information Report (FIR) was submitted against Saleem for allegedly committing theft in violation of Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3/8 of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.Â
The defense attorney for the application argued that their client was innocent and had been wrongfully implicated as a result of the confessional statement made by the co-accused party. In addition, he guaranteed that in the event that the petitioner is granted bail, he would donate one lakh rupees to a cow shelter in Bareilly that is registered with the government and will do community service at a cow shelter for a period of one month.
The court released the applicant on bail after reviewing the record in light of the arguments that were presented at the bar, as well as taking an overall look at all of the facts and circumstances of this case, the type of evidence, and the length of time he had been held in custody. The court released him on the condition that he provide a personal bond and two sureties of the very same amount.
The court added that the applicant must provide an assurance to the effect that he would not seek any delay on the day that was set for evidence while the witnesses are present in the courtroom. This undertaking must be filed within ten days after the court’s first order.
