Anwar Ibrahim, a man whose career is a culmination of astounding pitfalls and comebacks including a stint as deputy prime minister, jail terms for twice which were considered rather politically motivating and finally putting up with the role of longtime opposition leader and now after waiting for decades he is finally appointed as the 10th PM of Malaysia.
In the late 90s, he led thousands on the roads of Malaysia against his sacking and openly claimed it as a political conspiracy and hence lent democracy its most stunning image in South East Asia. The same Anwar Ibrahim at the age of 75 has now risen to the highest power seat of the country on Thursday, surging both the stock markets and people’s faith in him. For a distinctive time the markets surged on the end of political deadlock. The ringgit currency posted its best day in two weeks and equities rose 3%.
PH (Pakatan Harapan) is the Malaysian Political coalition consisting of centre-left political parties which was formed in 2015 to succeed Pakatan Rakyat coalition. Anwar Ibrahim is the Chairman of PH and now is also the 10th PM of Malaysia. After he acquired the position, PH also proclaimed that it would account for unity government conversations with political parties who think alike.

PM Modi tweeted and congratulated Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on being elected as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. He further said that he is looking forward to working closely together to further strengthen India- Malaysia Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

As per the reports of Straits Times, earlier history, the decision of Anwar Ibrahim becoming the new PM was taken in the Palace and the results were declared after Your Majesty held discussions with other rulers in a special meeting of the nation’s nine state monarchs.
Anwar Ibrahim has been sworn in as Malaysia’s new prime minister. As reported by the Straits Times, after dealing with the views of the Malay rulers, the King consented to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister. Before becoming Malaysia’s Prime Minister Ibrahim’s was was sacked as deputy premier in 1998 and was charged with allegations of sodomy and abuse of power.
The new administration in Malaysia is set to be crystallised , five days after a general election. After the majority of parties agreed to King Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah’s proposition for a unity government, the announcement regarding Malaysia’s Prime Minister was taken. According to the news report, the development comes as Parti Keadilan Rakyat President Anwar Ibrahim and his rival Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Muhyiddin Yassin weren’t on the same page and were incapable to gather the support of 112 MPs needed for a majority in the legislature.
On Thursday, United Malays National Organisation( UMNO) party expressed readiness to become part of a coherence administration, taking a distinct stance from the Barisan Nasional( BN) coalition’s former position of remaining in opposition. Other political wings in Malaysia also took the stance taken by UMNO. .
