Alia Bhatt celebrates with burgers and fries as Gangubai Kathiawadi enters the 100-crore club.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest release, Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt and Shantanu Maheshwari, has taken the box office by storm. Released on 25th February 2022, the movie had the biggest non-holiday opening and the third biggest holiday opening for a Bollywood movie in the post-pandemic era.
Debuting at 10.5cr on the first day, the film has grossed more than 102.5cr domestically in just a matter of 14 days.
The film focuses on the life of a young woman who was promised a movie career by her suitor but was later sold to a brothel and forced into the business. The storyline showcases how the naïve girl went on to become a prominent figure in the Kamathipura red-light district and the underworld.
The film has been receiving positive responses across all platforms and attained a 7/10 rating on IMDb. Responding to the praises the actress said, “I feel grateful, but I don’t take it to my head; I take it to my heart because I know the compliments are coming from the heart.”
Taking to Instagram, the young star shared with her fans, her mini celebration for the movie’s success, photos of herself with burger and fries with the caption “Happy century to Gangubai & happy vegan burger + fry to Alia . Thank you for all the love
Soon after her friends, family, co-stars and fans swamped the comment section and joined in on the celebration.

Priyanka Chopra wrote, “Congratulations and yum yum!”.
Alia’s first work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was supposed to be Inshallah, with Salman Khan as the co-star, but the movie got shelved just days before it was set to go on floors. However, two weeks from the incident Bhansali offered Gangubai to her and as it’s said, the rest is history.
For her upcoming endeavours, Alia is set to make her big Hollywood debut with Netflix’s International spy thriller “Heart of Stone”; starring alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan
