US President Joe Biden praised India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi handling of covid as he drew parallels between ‘India’s success and China’s failure’ during a closed session of the Quad Leaders‘ Summit in Tokyo on Tuesday.Â
Biden, according to a senior official, compared India’s accomplishment to China’s failure to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak, despite the fact that both countries are similar in size.
According to the official, Biden added that PM Modi’s success has demonstrated to the world that democracies can deliver, debunking the “myth that autocracies like China and Russia can handle the rapidly changing world better because their leadership can take and implement decisions without going through lengthy democratic processes.”
President Biden’s statements appeared to be spontaneous, as he made a special intervention before delivering his planned remarks, further added the official.Â
PM Modi met with USÂ President Joe Biden today after the Quad Leaders’ Summit. The meeting is the continuation of their ongoing conversation, which began on April 11 in virtual mode.
The Quad Summit provided the Leaders with an opportunity to discuss developments in the Indo-Pacific region along with current global topics of mutual relevance. A new programme for continuing collaboration in the marine domain, space, climate change, health, and cyber security was launched during the Quad summit.
