School in the state of Karnataka received bomb threats on Friday, 8th April 2022. The police received the report on the same day. They deployed a bomb disposal squad to check the situation.
The incident took place after school started receiving bomb threats via the platform Email. The same was received by the official Email IDs of the schools affected. Post the identification of the threats, the premises of the schools were emptied.
The bomb disposal squad executed search operations to keep the situation in check. The authorities stated that the threats were probably a hoax, however, they wanted to be on the safer side. “99 per cent of bomb threats like these turn out to be hoaxes later and there was no need for parents and students to get panicky.
Search operations were being conducted on the premises of the schools without disturbing the ongoing examinations,” said A. Subramanyeshwara Rao, Additional Commissioner (West) in an official statement.
The situation carried out worry and tension among the parents of the students. The student’s SLCC exams were also approaching. The authorities said that they wanted to make sure that the examination process of the students was not affected.
The chain of threats started with the schools of Ebenezer International School (Hebbagodi) and Vincent Pallotti International school (Hennur). Later, it gradually spread to schools on the outskirts of Bangalore such as Gopalan Public School, Delhi Public School, The Indian Public School, etc.
The content of the email stated that “A powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention it is not a joke, this is no joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!”.
The email was sourced back to the ID ‘ba[email protected]’. The police department claimed that they brought the situation under control by taking timely actions.
