Why is Adipurush so controversial?
Adipurush, Prabhas’ much-awaited film has been released theatres across the world. It is based on the mythological drama and is a retelling of the Hindu epic, Ramayana. The film, helmed by Om Raut, Prabhas plays Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon stars as Sita, Sunny Singh is Lakshman and Saif Ali Khan plays the role of Ravan.
The film is made on an enormous budget of Rs 500 crore. After its advance bookings opened on Sunday, the film did a business of Rs 12 crore. The national theatre chain PVR sold over one lakh tickets in the Hindi market itself and trade analysts are expecting a huge opening at the ticket counters across the country
Controversies of Adipurush going nowadays is not new to any one. The amount of criticism it is facing is at par unmanageable. With the passing times these controversies are taking a bigger picture on the canva. People are banning the movie due to various reasons such as the poor word-of-mouth.
As a result, on the second day after the release, Saturday, the movie showed a good drop of 24.78 per cent instead of showing a good jump.
This is the reason why on the opening day the numbers for Adipurush were tremendous following a fantastic advance booking. However, The other Telugu version registered the biggest drop till yet, the collections straight away turned half from Rs 48 crore nett on the opening day to Rs 26 crore net on the second day.
Reason for criticism against Adipurush!
Since the second day of its release Adipurush has been criticised widely for making a mockery of the Ramayana, one of the most sacred Hindu texts. Additionally, the other reason for collecting offence is that the movie has featured ridiculous slang as dialogues and sub-par visual effects work. Although, in defence the reason has been given that it has been ‘oversimplified’ for the new generation. After facing the hunge rejection, finally the filmmakers took a decision to replace the offensive dialogues in the film. But this is also not sure that either it will work or not.
