The Ukrainian conflict has “sounded an alarm for humanity,” Chinese President Xi Jinping stated on Wednesday. China maintains a neutral stance while supporting its ally Russia.
In deference to Moscow, China has refused to criticize Russia’s war in Ukraine or even refer to it as an invasion. Also, it is condemning US-led sanctions against Russia and accusing the West of provoking Moscow.
Mr. Jinping mentioned that the Ukraine crisis has once again served as a wake-up call for humanity. Countries will undoubtedly face security challenges. If the countries place blind faith in their positions of strength, improve military alliances, and seek their own security at the expense of others.
China proposes no solutions
Mr. Jinping, who did not offer any solutions, was speaking at the launch of the BRICS virtual business forum.
Mr. Jinping also stated that imposing sanctions could be a “boomerang” and a “double-edged sword.” Also, the global community would suffer, as a result of “politicizing, mechanizing, and weaponizing” global economic trends and financial flows.
Bolsonaro’s diplomatic skills
In his brief recorded speech to the forum, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro maintained an unusual diplomatic tone. He extolled his administration’s achievements without naming any other country.
The current international environment is concerning because of the risks to trade and investment flows. As well as the stability of energy supply chains and investment, he mentioned. “Brazil’s response to these challenges is not to shut down.” On the contrary, we have worked to increase the depth of our economic integration,” he further mentioned.
Mr. Jinping also stated that China would seek to mitigate the damage to international supply chains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As it is faced with a hardline policy of lockdowns and quarantines. Despite a decreasing number of cases and an increasing economic cost.
West backlash China
China’s assertive foreign policy and drive to dominate global markets have sparked a backlash in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere. Therefore, along with calls to replace Chinese suppliers and reduce reliance on the Chinese economy.
Mr. Jinping urged nations to collaborate on such issues. It stated that efforts to “build a small courtyard with high walls” were in no one’s best interests. “Economic globalization is an objective requirement for the development of productive forces as well as an irreversible historical trend,” mentioned Xi.
“Going back in time and trying to block other people’s roads will only end up blocking your own,” he further mentioned.
