Troops closing in on Kyyiv, Missiles Launched
Cruise and ballistic missiles were observed in the city of Kyiv on 24th February 2022. The Russian troops were also witnessed closing in on Ukraine. They were approximately 20 miles away from the capital city of Ukraine. The tensions in the atmosphere were gradually increasing as concern for civilian safety grew. The troops of Russia on day 1 of the Russia Ukraine war were spread across central and eastern Ukraine. The country was attacked from three sides.

Biden imposes sanctions on Russia
The Russia-Ukraine war saw the intervention of Joe Biden, President of the U.S.A. Biden imposes sanctions on the country Russia. The aim, as he claimed was to weaken it at its financial nodes. Biden also called Putin an “aggressor”. “President Putin’s actions demand a firm response. That’s why we’re imposing full blocking sanctions on VEB and Russia’s military bank, cutting off Russia from western financing, imposing sanctions on elites, and more.”, tweeted Biden.
Blasts witnessed across Kyiv at Dawn
The southwest region of the capital city of Kyiv witnessed blasts at the break of dawn on day 1 of the Russia-Ukraine war. The CNN reporters on-field confirmed the same. Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs claimed that the blast originated from “horrific Russian rockets strikes” on Kyiv. “Last time our capital experienced anything like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by nazi Germany.” Said Kuleba in a Tweet. He added that Ukraine had defeated that evil and will defeat this one. “Stop Putin. Isolate Russia. Sever all ties”, he adds.
EU: “Maximum impact” Sanctions on Russia
The EU imposed sanctions on Russia with the aim of “maximum impact”. The sanctions were aimed at Russia’s financial, energy, and transport sectors. They additionally also focused on Russia’s visa policy. “We will hold Kremlin responsible.” Said European commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen. The EU invoked sanctions on Russia’s imports and exports on day 1 of the Russia-Ukraine war. Furthermore, the sanctions were claimed to affect the economic and political elites of the country Russia. The conference decided to impact 70% of the banking and financial markets of Russia. They aimed to increase the country’s borrowing costs, and inflation and eventually target Russia’s industrial base. In addition to this, the sanctions were also focused on the export ban of the oil sector, the sale of spare parts of aircraft and equipment and stunted accessibility to crucial technology.
“Kyiv Explosion due to Ukrainian Air Defense”, Says Yenin
The explosion heard at the capital city of Kyiv was later clarified by the Deputy Interior Minister of Ukraine, Yevhen Yenin, He claimed that the blast was because of the “anti-missile system that shot down the missile launched from Russia towards the capital city. On the other hand, photographs provided by Gerashchenho were also added to the input. The photos showed the residential building of Kyiv on fire. The affected zones were deployed with fire tenders. The whole city was covered in thick black smoke due to the blasts. The city observed cruise and ballistic missiles launched into the city.
Biden On Russia-Ukraine way, Consult India
India was questioned on their stand regarding the Russian-Ukraine war. The country has a decade history of relationship with Russia. Furthermore, it is also the defence partner of the USA. Biden gave his statement to the reporters saying that the USA was consulting India. Antony Blinken and India’s External Affairs Minister had a telephonic conversation on day 1 of the Russia-Ukraine war. They discussed the “ongoing developments in Ukraine and its implications”, tweeted Dr S Jaishankar. Blinken also reiterated the importance of expressing a “collective response to Russian aggression.”
