Dwarka Acid Attack
Minutes after a girl left her house on her way to school, she became a victim of an acid attack. A video went viral on the internet that shows two boys on their blue-colored scooty throwing acid on the girl”s face. The victim is now battling severe injuries. This happened after the victim of the heinous crime ended her supposed ‘friendship’ with the accused a few months ago.

The main accused Sachin Arora was accompanied by his friends Virender Singh and Harshit Agarwal, and the three friends planned the crime together. Harshit drove the motorcycle and Sachin threw acid on the girl’s face. Meanwhile, Virender moved Sachin’s scooty and carried his mobile to a different location so that the police would not be able to trace Sachin around the area where the crime took place.
A mind-numbing detail from the incident is that the acid that was used for the crime was purchased from Flipkart. It is terrifying to know that a life-destructible substance is so readily available.
Nurse jumps off rickshaw after attempted rape
A woman jumped off an auto-rickshaw near Rayat Bahara Hospital, in an attempt to resist rape. The rape was attempted on the intervening night of December 13 and 14. The woman lodged a complaint and the case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The Kharar Police arrested two people and also recovered the auto that was used for the crime. The woman told the police that a person was seated in the rear seat and he started to molest and assault her. He was also making an attempt to rape the nurse.
Doctor kills wife in Delhi
On November 27, Dr. Abhishek Awasthi, an ayurvedic doctor, filed a missing report claiming that his wife went missing. He also informed the police that Vandana Awasthi, who was also a doctor by profession, left home with some valuables.
Upon further investigation, the police did not find any clue to support the claims made by Abhishek. The officers instead found out that the couple had some unresolved marital issues between them. After this information, the police interrogated Abhishek and he ended up confessing to his wife’s murder. Abhishek told the police that the couple has a serious fight on the night of 26th November and he ended up hitting her head with a heavy object which caused her death. He later cremated her body in Garh Mukhteshwar with the help of his father.
Women assaulted for marrying 2nd time in Gujr
In shocking news that came from Rajkot, a woman was trashed by her in-laws because of her decision of remarrying following her husband’s death. A video went viral that showed the woman being dragged on the streets, tied to a pillar, and beaten up savagely. The matter did not end with that kind of brutality. The hair of the victim was also chopped off by the accused.
The woman lost her husband four years ago in an accident after which, she got married again close to a year ago. On Monday, she visited her former sister-in-law and the meeting gave birth to an argument with the in-laws and their neighbors. The victim was then beaten black and blue by the accused.
Status of Women in society
These incidents either took place or got dealt with within a few days of each other. With the consistency with which these kinds of incidents make their way into the news, one can only imagine the number of cases that remain unreported and never come into the public eye. The above incidents show how petty reasons like revenge, lust, and ego are enough to destroy a woman’s life or end her life altogether, in a society that claims to be modern and unbiased.
