E.A. Minister , S. Jaishankar meets with Australian Prime Minister, PM Anthony Albanese in Sydney. Talk of the meeting centered around climate change, economy and cricket.
Foreign minister of India Dr.S.J Shankar met Anthony Albanese in Sydney to discuss a bilateral strategic partnership, economic opportunities, and cricket and discussed the recent developments between the two countries.

“It was wonderful to meet with Dr .S Jaishankar this morning ahead of my trip to India the next month” to finalize a trade deal following the interim agreement in April 2022 and thanked pm Modi for inviting him to India.
Before meeting the PM, EAM discussed a few things at Raisina @sydney business breakfast and briefed “In today’s global landscape, like-minded countries need to work together to derisk economy, rise to challenges of the digital world and build relationships that serve as stabilizers for the economy“.
Both agreed to expand the business-to-business cooperation in mining, critical minerals, and semiconductors.

Australia is an important partner for India in terms of security and stability in the Indo -Pacific region and working together to make the region free, open, safe keeping in view china’s interference in the region.
Educational Ties
Australia is a global education hub and it is one of the most important ways to strengthen the relationship between the two countries highlighted by the fact that education is Australia’s largest service export to India valued at $4.2 billion in 2021.
In October 2022,5700 Indian visa holders were studying in Australia.
Climate action
EAM India agreed on the fact that the biggest challenge facing the world is climate change and Australia can play an important role along with India to deal with this problem and develop a green economy.
Economic ties
The Australian Indian relationship was upgraded to a Comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP) on 4, June 2020, and the relationship is based on mutual understanding, trust, common interests, and shared a common heritage.
India in the coming years will need Australia’s help in science and technology, economy, defense, agriculture, education, and tourism. India is the oldest Asian country with which, Australia has established full diplomatic Relations.
In the year 2021, India was Australia’s 6th largest two-way goods and services trading partner valued at $34.3 billion, and the 4th largest goods and services export market. Australia’s total investment in india in the year 2021 was $19.9 million and India’s investment in Australia was about $27.8 billion and both are said to extend the same in the coming years to increase the economic opportunities for both countries.
The two signed Australia India Economic cooperation and trade agreement on 29 December 2021 to expand economic ties and help businesses to expand. Also, a Bilateral Economic cooperation agreement to cooperate in areas of health, critical technology, minerals, etc., to support more Australian and Indian business partnerships. The Australian govt has launched the Australia India business exchange which provides a range of services to support Australian businesses to enter and establish units in India. Also, the Australia India education council provides a platform to researchers to engage with each other to solve pressing issues.
Grant opportunities
- The Australia-India strategic partnership fund sponsors scientists from both countries to collaborate with each other on research.
- Australia India cyber and critical technology partnership sponsors scientists to develop global ethical standards around critical and emerging technologies such as AI, next-generation telecommunication (5G,6G), the internet of things, etc.
