Twitter has been in the spotlight since Elon Musk took command. As soon as Musk became the CEO of Twitter, he reduced the workforce by 70%, and till now the layoffs have not come to an end plus legal action.
Then, on November 17, 2022, employees were sent an email asking them to sign up to work long hours at high intensity or, better yet, resign.
On Friday, December 9th, the new owner of Twitter alerted all the employees that he would take legal proceedings against those who would leak any information to the media. The letter specifically mentioned sending detailed information to the media with the intention of harming the company, that person will receive legal action. He further made the employees who received this email sign an undertaking to accept this email and were asked to send their responses by Saturday, December 10th.
Elon Musk’s email also reminds the employees of a non-disclosure agreement they signed at the time of their hiring process.
The agreement stated: If you violate the non-disclosure agreement that you are signing, you accept liability to the full extent of the law, and Twitter will immediately seek damages.
Unsurprisingly, Elon Musk has also said that he is a free speech absolutist, but his recent actions contradict his own statements, which he has been seen making repeatedly on various platforms.
Musk has also been reported to have hired his relatives and spread nepotism in the Twitter office. His cousins Andrew and James Musk are in charge of the company’s major projects.
On one side, Twitter seems to sink; on the other side, big companies like Amazon and Apple are returning to Twitter for advertising. Amazon is said to have resumed advertising on Twitter for about $100 million per year.
Recently, the new owner of Twitter thanked all the advertisers for returning to Twitter by tweeting a thank you note.
