With the glory of the homecoming of 75,000 startups, India is set to celebrate the 75th year of Independence. Innovation and entrepreneurship among the citizens have contributed to nation-building, both economically and financially.
India has now recognized as many as 75,000 start-ups before commemorating the 75th year of Independence. Again a milestone in the history of India, the figures are just a start. The power and growth exhibited by the citizens have now changed the entire fate of India. Constantly struggling to capture its position on a global scale, India is not far behind any other nation.
The Minister on the Startups
The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, on Wednesday announced that India has achieved a landmark milestone as the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recognized over 75,000 startups in India.
Goyal’s tweet on the startups read, “These numbers tell the power of a vision. A vision to see innovation & enterprise drive growth. India is now home to 75,000 start-ups in the 75th year of Independence and this is only the beginning.”
India was set to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav when the announcement of 75,000 startups coincided with the 75th year of celebrating Indian Independence.
Indian Startups Ecosystem
Innovation and entrepreneurship have now taken the floor in the process of development of the country. India has proved its capability in business sectors. Even though it encountered many failures and defeats, the experience and hardships have only led to achievements.
The sector still fuels up the Indian Startup Ecosystem with the spirit of innovations. According to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
“a new India that taps on the entrepreneurial potential of its people” which he mentioned in the speech during the celebration of Independence Day, 2015 at Red Fort.
National Startup Day
January 16 has been declared National Startup Day based on the action plan to build a robust ecosystem that could nurture innovations and startups in the country. This action plan has now taken India to the 3rd largest ecosystem in the world.
On 15th January 2022, Prime Minister declared that 16th January would be celebrated as ‘National Start-up Day’ via virtual meeting. The event is titled ‘Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem’ as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
“Don’t just keep your dreams local, make them global. Remember this mantra – let’s Innovate for India, innovate from India” were the marking words from the Prime Minister.
“By announcing National Startup Day, our Prime Minister has proved that it not only validates the efforts that are put in by budding entrepreneurs but also encourages and uplifts the entire startup sector. It will automatically fuel the economy and bring more innovations into the picture,” by Bharat Sethi, founder of Rage Coffee.
The Backbone of a New Nation
Startups are now considered the ‘backbone’ of new India as envisioned by the Prime Minister. During the first 808 days, the startups scaled up to ten thousand. But the latest ten thousand were achieved only within 156 days. India now holds the highest rate of startups on the global scale with more than 80 startups being recognized per day.
The rise has now promised and has been encouraging future startups. Youths are coming forward with innovative ideas to mark their signature in the sector.
Paths to Job Opportunities of New India
As the story of startups progresses, 7.46 lakh job opportunities are being created in new India. Along with the entrepreneurs, the job seekers are also getting their position in society. The yearly increase is up to 110 percent over the last 6 years.
Now the startups are synonymous with sustainable economic growth in New India.
