Extreme heat waves were felt by the people from the United Kingdom to Luxembourg. The temperature was felt to be around 42 degree celsius in the city of Paris as well.
Hot and dry air originated from northern Africa and has trapped cold stormy systems contributing to this sultry kind of weather.Â
Temperature Rise in Paris
Temperature has risen to 42.6 degree Celsius in Paris and this has been one of the highest recorded temperatures of this summer season.
Tourists and local residents have sought relief by sitting near the public fountains. Various charity workers have handed water and sunscreens to homeless people and have opened shelters for them to take rest and shower.Â
This extreme heat and rise in temperature has caused travel disruption in the country. Authorities have urged people to stay indoors and avoid public transportation.
The temperature in Veragues was recorded to be 46 degree Celsius, which had recorded a maximum temperature of only 43 degrees in 2003.
Normal lives of people are getting disrupted, trains are being canceled or are forced to slow down to prevent tracks from getting overheated.Â
Temperature Rise in Other parts of EuropeÂ
Belgium and Netherlands also saw a rise in temperature upto 40 degree Celsius. In Belgium it was recorded as the hottest day since 1883.
People there had never witnessed such a huge rise in temperature. Temperature in the Netherlands was recorded to be 39.4 degree Celsius.
It was the highest since the summer of 1994. Scientists all over the world believe that these intense heat waves are a result of global warming from greenhouse emissions.
