We’ve all had tired and exhausting days which never seem to get over. After a long week of work and no life, all we want is a bowl of popcorn, a can of Pepsi and movie that makes us feel better about our lives.
Here are a couple of feel-good movies that are sure to leave you warm, fuzzy and with a smile on your face.
TuHaiMera Sunday, a feel-good movie
A group of 5 friends -Arjun (BarunSobti), Jayesh (Jay Upadhyay), Rashid (Avinash Tiwari), Mehrosh (NakulBhalla) and Domi (Vishal Malhotra) never miss playing a match of football every Sunday. This Sunday morning adventure is more than just a match for them; it is an escape from reality and a much-needed break from the lives they live every day.
A local politician’s ban on playing sports on the beach puts them off their routine. TuhaiMera Sunday is a slice of life movie that talk about the struggles of living in an overpopulated city.
The rest of the story follows them looking for a place to continue their Sunday ritual, which is aptly showcased in the lyrics of one of its songs, “Thodisijagah de deJeenekiwajah de de.”
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a feel-good movie
Childhood friends Kabir (AbhayDeol), Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (HrithikRoshan) reunite after many years to go on a bachelor party trip in Spain celebrating Kabir’s impending marriage.
They decide to each choose an adventurous sport which the remaining two have to take part in. Despite the disastrous start, the trip ends up being extremely special, and unlike any other, they had ever taken in their lives.
This film has it all from the toxic girlfriend, facing your fears, finding love, and teaching us to live life to the fullest while playing Farhan Akhtar’s heartwarming poetry in the background.
Karwaan
Karwaan is a coming of age road-comedy drama that follows the journey of three people from different walks of life. Avinash Rajpurohit (DulquerSalmaan) is an unenthusiastic techie who works in an IT company in Bangalore. He, like almost every other software engineer in this country, feels suffocated by his job.
He was forced into it by his father, with whom he shares a strained relationship. One night a travel agency calls him to inform him that his father has died in a road accident. Right before the cremation, he realises that there has been a mix up with his dad’s dead body.
The rest of the movie follows him travelling with his companions Shaukat (Irrfan Khan) and Tanya (MithilaPalkar) on a journey to Kerala and mainly through self-discovery.
Kuch Bheege Alfaaz
Over an accidental phone call, the famous and anonymous RJ Alfaz (Zain Khan Durrani) connects with Archana, a woman suffering from Vitiligo(GeetanjaliThapa). This unlikely connection ends up being a source of comfort for them both.
Whether they actually decide to take this relationship or not forward forms the crux of the narrative. It explores the concept of two broken people uniting to make each other whole in a way that feels like a breath of fresh air.
It is quiet and soulful as opposed to the in-your-face love stories we consume. The movie’s pace may be slow, but the way it paves out makes it worth the watch.
Wake Up Sid
Wake Up Sid follows the lives of Aisha and Sid, two fundamentally different people who meet at a college farewell party. Aisha is a girl with a plan who comes to Mumbai to fulfil her life-long dream of becoming a writer and living independently.
On the other hand, Sid is the typical but endearing ‘Ameer Baap Ki Bigdi Aulad’ who lives without a care in the world. His world comes crumbling down when he flunks his college exams and moves out of his home.
This movie is the perfect mix of light-hearted and entertaining and will surely bring a smile to your face as you watch Sid embark on the journey of many responsible “firsts”.
